Fantastic trip to India : 37. MEGU Cafe and Goodbye (feat, DENNS Restaurant)_Varanasi, India
낮에 나가려고 준비하고 있는데 메구카페라는 맛집이 있다며 저녁때 같이 가지 않겠냐고 연락이 왔다.
바라나시에 음식점이 뭐가 있는지 아는게 없었던지라 맛집이라고 하니 거절 할 수가 없었다.
그리고 어짜피 오는길에 카메라 메모리카드좀 가지고 와줄 수 있는지 묻는다.
보정을 조금 하기는 해야 하지만 일단 원본파일 먼저 주는 것도 나쁘지 않겠다 싶어 챙겨서 출발-!
I was getting ready to go out during the day, and I got a call from the group, saying, “There is a restaurant called MEGU Cafe, so let’s go together in the evening.”
I couldn’t refuse because I didn’t know what restaurants were in Varanasi.
And he asks me, “Can you bring me a memory card on the way with a picture taken at dawn?”
I need to do some correction work, but I thought it would be okay to give the original file first, so I took it and left-!
구글 지도를 보면서 가면 금방 찾을 것이라 하길래 근처 일 것이라 생각하고 있었는데 엄청 멀다.
그것도 가트따라 걷는 거면 차라리 나은데 바라나시의 미로와 같은 골목을 헤집어야한다.
핸드폰으로 지도의 방향을 잘 봐가며 골목-큰길-골목을 반복하다보니 생각보다 금방 도착했다.
이젠 좀 적응이 됬나?
바라나시에?
그리고 곧이어 도착한 일행들.
They told me, “If you go looking at Google Maps, you’ll find it soon,” so I was thinking it would be nearby, but it’s really far.
It’s better to walk along Ghat, but you have to dig through the maze-like alleys of Varanasi.
I arrived faster than I thought because I repeated the alley, main road, and alley while looking at the direction of Google Maps on my cell phone.
Are you used to it now?

And the party that arrived soon after.
메구카페는 이름에서도 느껴지듯이 일식당이다.
메뉴도 가게 내부 분위기도 누가봐도 일본식당이다.
이 점은 일본이 대단하다는 거 인정.
(뜬금없지만 독도는 우리땅)
As the name suggests, MEGU Cafe is a Japanese restaurant.
The menu and the atmosphere inside the store are obviously Japanese restaurants.
I admit that Japan is amazing in this regard.
(Suddenly, Dokdo is our land)
난 가츠동, 부부는 베지스시롤과 오꼬노미야끼를 주문.
한 명은 점심을 늦게 먹어 저녁 포기선언을. ㅋ..ㅋ
I ordered katsu-dong, and the couple ordered veggie sushi rolls and okonomiyaki.
One person had a late lunch so he gave up on dinner lol
제일 먼저 나온 가츠동은 돼지 돈까스가 아니고 치킨까스가 올려져 나오는데 정말 가츠동맛이 난다.
스시롤에는 생선튀김이 들어가 있는데 간장을 살짝 찍어 먹으면 좋다.
오꼬노미야끼는 가쓰오부시가 빠지긴 했지만 역시 맛있다.
서로 맛있다를 연발하며 배부르게 클리어!
그런데 여기 텍스가 14%나 붙는다.
비싸긴 하다.
The first katsu-dong served is not pork cutlet, but chicken cutlet, but it really tastes like katsu-dong.
There is fried fish in the sushi roll, so it’s good to dip it in soy sauce.
Okonomiyaki is delicious even though katsuobushi is missing.
Let’s say it’s delicious one after another and clear it up!
But here’s 14% of the tax.
It is expensive.
숙소로 돌아 오는 길은 아까 혼자 걸었던 기억을 되짚으며 반대로 걸어갔는데
길이 익숙하다 했더니
바라나시 처음 온 날 릭샤가 들어 갈 수 없다해서 걸었던 길,
지도상 여기가 숙소라고 했는데 숙소가 없어 멘붕에 빠졌던 길,
(지금은 내가 구글에 제안해서 맵 바꾸어놨다.)
지나가는 사람들마다 붙잡고 위치를 물었던 길이다.
불과 며칠 전 만 해도 울고싶었던 길(데이터도 안터지니..)을
아무렇지 않게 걷고있다.
On the way back to the hotel, I walked the other way, recalling the memory of walking alone.
I thought the road was familiar.
The road I walked on the first day of Varanasi because “Rixia can’t go into the alley,”
I arrived at the location that said hotel on the map, but I was in a mental breakdown because there was no hotel,
(Now I suggested to Google and changed the map.)
It is the road where every passing person grabbed and asked for their location.
Just a few days ago, I wanted to cry (because my cell phone data didn’t work)..)
I’m walking casually.
사람이 너무 많아 자연스레 걷다가 숙소 근처의 바바라씨를 지나,
먼저 나오는 내 숙소를 지나, 그들의 숙소도 지나치고.
어떻게 하지 하다가 어제 맥주마신 데니스가게에서 기다리기로 했다.
그들은 바라나시와서 거의 매일 데니스에게 간 것 같았다.
작별 인사를 해야 한다고 하길래 짐싸서 나올 때까지 데니스와 놀았다.
There were so many people that I walked naturally and passed the BABA lassi near the hotel,
I passed my hotel that came out first, and I passed their hotel.
We talked to each other, “What shall we do?” and decided to wait at the store of DENNS, where we drank beer yesterday.
They came to Varanasi and seemed to go to DENNS almost every day.
They said they had to say goodbye to DENNS as much as they got attached, so I played with Dennis while waiting to pack up and get out of the hotel.
그는 인도인인데 과거 한국여인이랑 뜨거운연애를 했단다.
그래서 일부 한국어를 알아듣기도 하고 말도 한다.
물론 대부분의 대화는 영어로 해야 하지만.
여튼 이런저런 이야길 하다보니 한 가득 배낭을 맨 여행객이 나타나고 서로의 남은 여정을 기원하며 안녕.
그들을 만나지 못했다면 아직도 미로같은 바라나시 골목을 헤매고다녔을 것이라 생각하니 더 고마운 인연이었습니다.
He is Indian, and he had a hot relationship with a Korean woman in the past.
So he understands and speaks some Korean.
Of course, most conversations should be in English.
Anyway, as we talked about this and that, anyone with a full backpack appeared in their traveler’s clothes, and we wished each other the rest of our journey. Bye.
It was a more grateful connection to think that if I hadn’t met them, I would still have wandered around the maze of Varanasi Alley.
데니스는 게스트하우스 운영하는 것이 꿈이랍니다.
지금 가게 자리는 임대가 아니고 본인 소유랍니다.
돈 더 모아서 2, 3층도 사서 게스트하우스 하고싶다네요.
그 꿈이 꼭 이뤄지길 바라며 내일은 본인이 자신하는 망고라씨를
(한국에서 알려진 3대라씨집 보다 더 맛있다 했음)
먹으러 가겠습니다!
DENNS wants to run a guest house.
The seat of the store is not for rent, but for yourself.
He wants to save more money and buy the second and third floors and build a guest house.
I hope his dream comes true. Tomorrow, he’s going to recommend mango lassi
(He told me that it was more delicious than the three major lassi stores known in Korea.)
